Mixed Native Hedging

Mixed native hedging is good for wildlife and creates a pleasant looking border around the garden.

Typically a mixed native hedge includes the following species:

Hazel

Bird Cherry

Field Maple

Hawthorn

Wild Rose (Dog rose)

Elder

Blackthorn

It is better to choose either Hawthorn or Blackthorn as the dominant species of the hedge so that it has a consistent appearance.
